On the rail, use your inside leg as a “wall” so he doesn’t come in or change direction. Then move outside leg back, and make connection with inside rein. If needed, steady with outside rein, but inside leg should do the trick. If he still catches the incorrect lead, make him canter a small circle on the incorrect lead. Small enough to be uncomfortable, but large enough that he can canter with out breaking. Gradually get smaller until he breaks to a trot, then ask for canter again (inside leg as a wall, outside leg back, and connection with inside rein). AS SOON as he catches it, PRAISE, PRAISE, PRAISE! Let him canter about 3 strides and then stop and take him for a walk in the shade. I know I’m kinda late on this post, but it still may help:):)
