I have a thoroughbred, a half-thoroughbred paint, and a reining-bred quarter horse, all very high-energy. If I don’t keep them busy they get very naughty, thinking of things to do that I usually don’t like. So when I do dressage, I will also have barrels or poles set up, or a jump, or all of the above. So I might trot a circle and come out of it and jump the jump, or be cantering along and turn a barrel or two. It keeps their mind busy and thinking about what you want, and frankly is more fun for me too. So when you ride outside, look for a tree or bush to turn around, or a log to jump or sidepass, etc. It will keep the focus on your desires, and if you are looking for fun obstacles it might keep you relaxed. Hope this might help!
