You asked “Why on dry hay?” when my vet and I pow wowed about this factor his input regarding that was. “Grass has a high water content compared to the hay” so I took that response to mean that when we cut and dry our grasses for hay everything is more concentrated with out all that precious water that is so good for the inside of a horses digestive track. And maybe also as grasses mature, what ever is in there, that is bothering them, there is more of it as the grasses for hays grow taller and become more mature.
