I like the portrait idea. I did that for my daughter when her favorite horse was put down. I found a portrait artist who was able to take her favorite photo, remove her from the final version, and do a beautiful watercolor of her horse in mid-flight unencumbered. She loved it! The plant idea is also lovely, but I am still kind of sad about the memory garden I had to leave behind when I sold my home. I took cuttings, but they didn’t take. And I had to remove a memory tree from my new house which very much saddened the last owner, but it was a toxic plant for the horses. Just sayin’…I prefer portable remembrances.
