As the last post stated, time is essential for healing. Your horse may never be 100% again and then again maybe so. I read about a warmup routine for older, stiff horses and it works for my mare. We start with a lot of walk-stretching, relaxing, and then go into an easy canter. I don’t ask her to round up for about a half hour. We then go back to walk and then will do trot work if she feels right. This works much better than the usual walk, trot, to canter routine. My mare is older and not in competition, but this could be adaptable to any joint injury and recovery. I wish you the best with your horse.
