Newer to horses owner with info from a bazillion sources. Not all bad, just diverse. Too diverse for a newbie. Owner is also limited by the fact and condition that s/he boards. Many folks, and even those with experience, are not always fully aware of the degree of responsibility horse stewardship can involve. Available finances are to be considered. The learning curve is broad. I respectfully submit, for clarification, to refer the situation to a veterinarian or an actual nutritionist. WE all know we’re right, we’re horsefolk 😀

Best advice I can give at this point to the OP is to KNOW that when you ask ONE question of a group of horse people, you WILL get at least TEN answers and all are correct. Always and ever?…. not always and ever : ).

Sure there's right and wrong but mostly there's just a whole lotta different.
