I think if he can maintain his weight with more hay that is great. Ignore advice to give him grain – he only needs it if he can’t maintain his weight with hay alone. A ration balancer as someone suggested might be something to look into in the future to ensure he is getting all the nutrients he needs because some areas of the country are deficient in certain nutrients, and there are also some nutrients that are present in grass but lose their potency in hay… But this is not necessary/relevant to your original question, just something to consider! - handmade custom wood-burned brushes, stall signs, & portraits, etched glasses, and custom stuffed ponies
