My two year old just got blood work done, and it came back that he had anemia. The reason we drew blood was because he had drainage coming from his nose. I had him on antibiotics to clear the draining and I power packed him. His diet is about a pound of southern state solution twice a day, and a lunch of alfalfa, alfalfa cubes, a pound of triple crown complete, 2oz rice bran oil and smart omega. He has free choice teff hay. I want to add something to help with the anemia,I just have been getting mixed suggestions. Any suggestions?
I hear you on the mixed suggestions, Katie, anemia in horses is a challenging topic for sure. While I don’t have any personal experience supporting a horse with this condition, I did find two really helpful pieces that our staff veterinarian, Dr. Gray, wrote on the subject.
