When I got my saddle two years or so ago, I bought just a simple wool pad, because I didn’t have a lot of cash.
I want the best supporting pad for my mare, because I know it so important, and I want her to be as comfortable as possible. I wanted to know which western pads are the best/most supportive for my horse? Any suggestions are welcome!
I think the best you can do is the Professional’s Choice SMX HD Air Ride saddle pads. Make sure you get the Comfort Fit style because it has a much better cut for the withers. It is worth every penny and it comes in so many styles and patterns and prints. My trainer loves hers and the support is unbelieveable, the quality is amazing. I know I sound like a salesperson, but everyone I know with this pad loves it and the technology in it is phenomenal. The shock absorption and how it molds to fit your horse’s back without being overly thick or fluffy to interfere with anything is great and totally worth it.
