I am looking into having my horse appraised and insured and wanted to know if anyone had any appraiser or insurance suggestions. I have spoken with David D. Johnson who is an appraiser and wanted to see if anyone know if he was any good. I have also looked into Legis Equine Insurance and Dietrich Equine Coverage and wanted to see if anyone knew anything about them. Thanks!
I’m a licensed appraiser. I don’t know David Johnson, but you can go to the ASEA website and contact them to help you find an appraiser in your area if you’re not sure you want to go with Mr. Johnson. Make sure he’s ASEA certified, and you should be just fine. I had Dietrich, and they are awesome! In fact, I chose them because one of my boarders came in with a horse that had lost an eye, and they were the agency she used. She said they were fabulous in walking her through the claims process and everything was completely covered on a $17K surgical bill.

Not sure about getting your horse appraised but once you do you should check out equine insurance from Iruhl. Read this article and learn more. https://www.iruhl.com/insurance/equine-insurance-are-you-sure-youre-insured/

I am a Certified Equine Appraiser. I know this thread is old, but thought I should post. It is my understanding that Mr. Johnson has not been in good standing with the American Society of Equine Appraisers for quite a few years and is no longer an appraisal member or certified appraiser. Just a heads up if an appraisal is required for taxation purposes, court, etc.
