I have a 6 year old QH gelding (reining). He suffered a tendon injury his 3 year old year, but since then he has been completely sound. all scans/x-rays/tests have come back amazingly clean and is completely healed. He was off from riding/showing his entire 4 year old year to help his recovery. His 5 year old year he was shown lightly to get him experience and sold. I bought him last year and only showed him a few times just to get used to him. This year (2014) he will be 7 and I plan on showing him at major NRHA shows extensively. I plan on putting him on SmartCombo but was wondering if SmartTendon was another good supplement to help maintain his leg. Anything I do for his leg is for maintenance and prevention. He is not lame at all, so i don’t need anything that will “cure” anything.
Call Customer Care. They have such good knowledge of all the supplements, I’m sure they would be able to help you. You could also combine them. My guy is on a couple similar ones. I am all for preventing the injury, so I would also suggest putting him on a hoof and joint supplement. That being said, SmartCombo has SmartFlex and SmartHoof in it. I would definitely suggest putting him on Ultra if you are going to be doing a lot of competing and work with him, especially during show season (sorry, I event, do you reiners have show seasons?). Also, while he is in that show season and is at the most risk of re-injuring that tendon, I would also suggest putting him on SmartTendon. You can always change up and adjust his SmartPaks whenever you want, don’t forget! Best of luck in your 2014 season!
