What’s the difference between calming supplements that have herbs in them and ones that just have things like magnesium and B-Vitamins? How do you know which one to use? Is one better than the other?

Some herbs are illegal to compete on. I have a mare on magnesium now. I works for her. It does not work on her mother. The B vitamins do. You will have to try either one. To the best of my knowledge, these methods are legal to compete on.

It is also something you might want to consult your vet on. Horses are like people in that not everything works for every horse. You have to choose what is best for your particular horse.

Herbs are more natural, but you also run the chance of not being able to show while using them.
Smartpak is really good about posting this with any supplements that have something in them that will show up on a test.
