    Hi There!

I am in South Africa and bought a mare, Granini. She has the H branded on her Hip and the number 273 in her neck. I know she is imported from Germany and her breeding is, according to her previous owner as follows:Sire: Graf Sponeck; Dam:Grille; Sire of Dam: Goldfinger. Her passport got lost and I would love to find her details eg. Date of Birth ect. in order to open her new passport. Or even better get more info on her. Does any one know where I can try and get more info?

    Kind Regards,

    Hi,

It would be smart to start with the Hanoverian Verband in Germany if that’s where you believe she came from. Every horse that is branded (legally) should be in their register somewhere. You may need to provide photos and copies of any paperwork that you have on file.

Also, if she was imported to South Africa, clearly she got there somehow. There should be records of her transport and quarantine. My understanding is that horses imported to South Africa are quarantined at Kenilworth Station.

It will definitely take some digging, but those are good places to start.
