my horse use have nice strong hooves, but she threw a shoe a week ago and now she has a few small cracks on the inside of her hoof. I just put her on the Smarthoof stuff and she gets hoof oil put on regularly, but is there anything else to do? It rained for a few weeks straight, and is now very hot and most fields are still flooded.
Life is not about waiting for the clouds to pass, its about learning to ride in the rain
Keeping her feet trimmed short (and frequent trimmings) will help new hoof wall to grow in quickly. Keeping her shoes off for a little while and making sure she gets exercise will most certainly help too.
Hope her feet get stronger soon!
