My mare has been banging her hock against the stall wall and is super itchy on it. Thinking it’s mites. I was thinking of using Listerine and baby oil on her hock to see if that helps relieve the itch. Any other treatment recommendations? Help! :O

Just one hock? I think Listerine is an old Pony Club remedy, but I’ve never tried it. Listerine is supposed to kill bacteria in the human mouth, but mites are little creatures related (I think) to spiders, and Listerine probably won’t have any effect. If it gets bad enough, call in the vet. You want to stop the mites, or whatever they are, from spreading. Good luck!

She seems the itchiest on that one hock, but is also a little itchy on her right front below her fetlock. Any products you recommend to stop the mites? Listerine and baby oil were all I could think of lol, cause its done pretty well in the past for my itchy horses.
