Do you still have your saddle for sale? If so, how much are you asking for it?
LoyApril 23, 2014 at 5:08 pm
I have decided to keep it. Thank you.April 23, 2014 at 5:10 pm
Do you have a Lippizan mare? If so, I think I replied to this ad from another site? Sorry about that. Did you also have a L&R Sylvan for sale in a smaller seat size but wider tree?

Saddle now for sale again as I bought her a custom saddle with gray piping to match her color, couldn’t help myself! lolMay 21, 2014 at 11:48 am
I will let the mother of the young girl at my barn know that the saddle is for sale again. Did you have it listed at a lower price before? I look at so many ads that I could certainly be wrong about that.

I can’t remember what I had it listed at, but I can certainly be a bit negotiable…May 21, 2014 at 2:52 pm
I see that the flap of your saddle says 17 1/2″ ST. What does the ST stand for? My L&R saddle also has the date of manufacture stamped on the flap. What year was your saddle made?
May I ask what kind of saddle you bought for your mare? Gray piping sounds lovely.

I don’t really know, those are the only things stamped on the flap, no date. I purchased this saddle directly from England. I bought a Custom Saddlery Wolfgang Solo from CW Saddlery, the saddle was made on my birthday and it matched my filly’s color, so it was destined…lol
I listed the saddle on Ebay at $1399, would sell outright off of Ebay for $1300, free shippingMay 22, 2014 at 11:03 am
It sounds like you really were destined to have the new saddle for your mare. It sounds beeutiful.
Do you by any chance know Kate Wilson at Dutchess Saddle and Bridle? Her business is in Port Jervis, New York which looks like it’s about five hours from you. I suggested to the woman who is interested in your saddle that we have you ship it there so that we could have Kate adjust it to fit her mare. I know that Lovatt and Ricketts runs wider than a lot of other saddle companies. Did you have a Lovatt and Ricketts Sylvan saddle that you were selling in an XW? Was that wider than the Ellipse? I would just like to make sure that this saddle is pretty close in size so that Kate wouldn’t need to do a ton of adjusting which of course would cost more.
I have read that some of the older saddles are stamped on the underside of the top flap. Is there a serial number on the flap of the saddle?May 22, 2014 at 11:32 am
On e-bay I see that you have the saddle advertised as an XW instead of a wide. Do you know for sure which it is?

I sent an e-mail to Lovatt an Ricketts USA. Janet Lovatt responded that if you can remember approximately when you bought the saddle, she can look it up and tell us if it’s a Wide or an XW. What was your last name when you bought the saddle?

hi, yes, I know Kate from Dutchess, she has done work on my Albion SLK, she and her husband are very good. This saddle is not as wide as the XW Sylvan that I had, it fits more like the wide tree Sylvan that I had. The L&R wide trees fit more like an XW-XXW in most other brands.
It has nothing else stamped anywhere on the saddle, I purchased it preowned from England, not from L&R directly.May 22, 2014 at 10:24 pm
I sent an e-mail to Kate Wilson yesterday asking if she could do this if we have the saddle sent to her. She answers e-mails on Wednesdays and Fridays. She must have been to busy to respond yesterday. I hope that I hear from her tomorrow. I think it’s possible that we might get buy with just having the flocking adjusted but I need to know if she can adjust the tree a little if that needs to happen. I’m pretty sure that a L&R extra wide would be way to wide for this mare but a W might be a tiny bit too small.
If Kate is willing to do this, would it be possible to have you ship the saddle to her and we would ship wither tracings to Kate, to make sure that we can get this to work out. Normally we would ask for a trial with the saddle but we’re pretty sure that it will work since we tried a similar saddle on her. We are hoping that you might agree to have Kate tell us if it can work in lieu of a trial. If for some reason Kate thinks she just can’t make it happen, we would pay to have Kate send the saddle back to you. Does this sound like it could work for you?

Hello, that would be fine if not for the fact that I have to pay for the new saddle in less than 10 days (they give you 10 days to ride in it, then charge your credit card) I Would really prefer to sell outright, although I certainly understand your concern about it fitting. I’m sure Kate or any good qualified saddle fitter can make it work. The Custom Saddlery lady that I had here said it would be fine for my mare with reflocking, but I had my heart set on the one with the piping. I have someone on Ebay who made me an offer, I made them a counter offer this morning but haven’t heard anything. If you want the saddle for $1250 directly from me, then I will just sell it to your friend and ship it to Kate for free. I can take paypal. thanks.
