    Hey y’all,
Not necessarily a horse health topic, but I got these new Ariat field boots early this year and now that they’re broken in, they’re too big in the ankle and foot and too small in the calf. I unfortunately have short legs but a medium calf size, which makes finding half chaps that fit me difficult. I’m in the process of finding paddock boots that will be good, but does anyone know a brand that could be good for odd fits or if it’s possible to get half chaps altered? Can anyone speak for SmartPak products?

Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks.

Where do you ride? Pretty much on its back.

Check out TredStep, they make a pretty broad range of sizes and are well made for the price. Not the cheapest but soft yet durable, no break in, no break down. Love mine and I am a short wide calf (on several levels : ). Good Luck in your search!

Sure there's right and wrong but mostly there's just a whole lotta different.

Thanks, pheets! I did end up buying TredStep suede chaps and though they aren’t super fancy, they fit me better than any half chaps I’ve had. I kind of wish I got the leather ones because the suedes feel kind of thin, but they’ll do for the riding I do. Thanks!
