I have a rescue horse that just had an ulcer flare up. We are putting him on Precision Pharmacy Ulcer Medicine which is omerprazole and ranitidine. It is $17 a tube and one tube could do 3 treatments. I’m using it to hopefully heal my horse but I plan on using it as maintenance whenever he is in a stressful situation.
His ulcers flared up when I moved him to another barn, but also when he went off beet pulp. Beet pulp has many prebiotic properties that I think are important.
I would recommend alfalfa hay here and there, grass as much as possible or slow feeder hay nets, the paste mentioned above, beet pulp, and a pro/pre biotic.
